R4R Elite Cycling Team Supports Make-A-Wish Foundation in 2011-2012
The R4R cycling team was created in 2007 as part of an effort to not only create a winning team of elite athletes,
but also ensure the team had an active philanthropic basis. We are a registered 501c3 non-profit and view ourselves as
a philanthropic organization that happens to be brought together through competitive bike racing vs. a group of bike
racers that happen to have a philanthropic effort.
In past seasons, we’ve raised significant funds for the American Brain Tumor Association via events and corporate
fundraising. For the 2011 and 2012 seasons we’ve become more closely affiliated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. This
new affiliation will allow us to have broader reaching impact while still benefiting those children with brain tumors
through the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Our goal is to grant 20 wishes to children with life threatening medical conditions
over the next two season – roughly $200,000.00 in fundraising effort. A big thanks to our corporate and product
supporters of British Motors, Bentley, Castelli, Clif Bar & Co., the Hitachi and Brocade partnership, Oakley, Precept
Group, and Wilier Triestina USA.
While our athletes compete in various events throughout the season across the country, our primary race venue is the
highly competitive NCNCA (Northern California/Nevada Cycling Association) district where you’ll see us at local races
every weekend and on training rides throughout the Bay Area.
All donations made via this site go direct to Make-A-Wish and each team member has set their own fundraising challenge
for the season on their own fund raising page. Thank you in advance for your support of R4R and Make-A-Wish!
